The early 1980’s was a creative and active time for the Studio Furniture making field. One maker whose work caught my eye back then was John Economaki. He was influenced by Sam Maloof but took Sam’s work to a more refined and elegant place in my mind – no small feat! Unfortunately John developed a sensitivity to wood dust and had to stop woodworking. He did however move on to found Bridge City Tools which makes extremely high end planes, measuring tools and more. This coat tree is reminiscent of his early work in furniture.
